Description of the Trip
Lancaster Castle is often known as John O’ Gaunt’s and is one of the most fascinating surviving historical buildings in the country. The castle was used as a prison until 2011 and is where Ruth Ellis was the last woman to be hanged in the UK. There will be a one-hour guided tour of the building which should include standing in the crown court room. Later there will be time in the City of Lancaster.
