Why PUD Club?

We have all dieted before & know what we should do. It’s just a matter of doing it. PUD Club simply offers a weekly weigh in, a way of keeping track of your weight plus a support network to help you to CHOOSE TO LOSE! Every week you record your own weight and you record your loss or gain in total privacy.

Starting Point

We initially suggest a series of small changes, which members have come up with. You pick 3-5 and see if they work for you. We also have lots of diet books available, if you fancy following an eating plan and regularly try new ones.

2022 Review

  • Success – One member has lost almost 2 stone and another a stone.
  • Health benefits – one member is no longer at risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • Most people have been up and down (as life gets in the way) but at least are not having to join one of the big slimming clubs in January, with stones to lose.

Weekly Topics

  • Members decide on a weekly topics. This can be anything – we have discussed Picnics, Cholesterol, Spanish food, Motivation, Vegetarian, Eating out, Sugar, One Pot meals. (We have been known to just sit around and laugh). We bring samples and recipes to go with the topics.
  • During 2022 one popular topic was ‘Briam’ a greek dish which consists of layers of thinly sliced and roasted vegetables, with tinned tomatoes and topped with cheese.

Good Ideas

  • Try to eat 40 different fruits and vegetables in a week.
  • There are 21 meals in a week – so if you eat out 6 times, that gives you another 15 meals to even things up.
  • Looking up menus in advance when eating out.
  • Walk to the shops.

Other Information

  • We are trying a different approach to weight control and becoming healthier.
  • Results so far have been impressive – three members have lost a stone or more, and no one has gained weight since joining.
  • A consultant cardiologist and the local nurse practitioner think PUD Club is a good idea.

Rules

  • Only you know what you weigh.
  • You decide what small changes to make each week.
  • Excuses for enjoying life are not necessary, you make the rules.
  • We go out for a meal, including a PUD a couple of times a year.
  • Please note that Leyland U3A is a non-political, non-religious charity. We expect everyone at our meetings to be respectful of others, both at the meeting and in the wider community.
